New Park Construction – Kick Off Meeting
The Gunter Parks Foundation is Hosting Playground Construction Kickoff Meeting.
The funds have been raised for the future community-built playground in Gunter. The kickoff meeting is the next step towards building the playground.
The Gunter Parks Foundation is pleased to host their playground build kickoff meeting on February 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the Gunter Elementary School Cafeteria. The kickoff meeting will provide information about the construction process and what is needed and allow for volunteer sign-ups. Attendees will also see an artistic rendering of the playground. The final children handprint tile workshop will be held immediately after the meeting. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to win personalized fence pickets or handprint tiles.
“This meeting is so important for anyone who is interested in helping build the playground. Build week is May 17-21 and there are many opportunities for skilled and unskilled volunteers. Food and childcare will be provided during the build. –Nancy Nevil, GPF President
The Gunter Parks Foundation worked diligently to raise $200,000 for a much needed community-built playground. The Gunter City Park playground currently consists of a swing set, broken monkey bars, an old fashioned merry-go-round, and some picnic tables. Before our build week, we will need hundreds of volunteers signed up for different shifts over the course of the week. Working with Leathers and Associates, the community-built playground is the first large project for the Gunter Parks Foundation and the first community-built playground in the city of Gunter.
Gunter Parks Foundation is dedicated to preserving, protecting, enhancing and promoting our city park. Its purpose is to acquire financial resources through contributions to make park improvements that provide the community an opportunity to play, gather, celebrate and learn together.
